The thrill of either watching or playing soccer as caught on in the United States. For some reason people like to kick things around. Kids like to kick rocks or cans around. They have been that way for generations. Just what is the thrill of soccer? Let’s find a little history of soccer.

You could probably say that soccer started in England back in the 1800’s. No one is exactly sure. England does claim the title of actually organizing the game of soccer. Given that soccer can be traced back to the earliest of times, there are three periods of time that the history of soccer can be traced.

Soccer during the ancient times of Rome or maybe Greece was just about the only thing the boys had to play with. They would take a small ball, that ball could be made of material or maybe string; or a rock and start kicking it around, there were no rules at that time. Kids would be found in the street yelling and having fun kicking a ball around.

The written declaration of the history of soccer came from the Chinese military. This documentation of the history of soccer was written around 300 B.C. This involved the all of the players kicking the leather ball around. The object of the game was to kick the ball into a hole. The goal was eight yards. You hit the Soccer Ball into the hole and you won.

During even the Middle Ages soccer was popular. Although during the years during the medieval period were extremely harsh. The history of soccer can even be traced back to this time. They did manage to partake in soccer.

There have been many wars through the years that the children left behind would get a ball, usually made of leather and start hitting it around. But the lack of rules in the soccer game would lead to many fights and people got hurt. They did not have any protective gear at this time and many bones were broken.

Soccer is now considered a sport. Not just kicking a funny looking ball around. It now has rules. These rules are followed by the strictest of guidelines. There are two teams in a soccer game. On October 26, 1863 some of the English clubs and they wrote a set of worldwide rules.

As of today we have the Football Association. As the soccer clubs around the world changed from amateur to professional, the rules and conduct is standard for everyone.

Soccer did not really catch on in the US for many years. All over the world soccer was a widely watched and a beloved sport. It is finally gaining here. You see more and more soccer being played. Kids are getting more and more involved in it. There are neighborhoods all over now, you can see the kids playing soccer, screaming and having fun. And even the adults are getting into it. It’s a good alternative to football.

The history of soccer is interesting to say the least. People will argue with you about who invented it, where and when. That is fine. Just have fun and enjoy the game.
