Premier League Fixtures

EPL

92 matches in 40 days

The Premier League fixtures for the remaining of the 2019/20 season have been released. There will be a lot of changes, including empty stadiums, and each team being allowed to make five substitutions. Returning leagues have been able to watch how the Bundesliga has managed to restart. Thankfully, they have done magnificently. Teams are following all social distancing guidelines, and a semi return to normalcy has been well received.

Injured players returning

Playing every four or five days will be very demanding. As a result, fatigue, fitness, and squad depth is going to be more important than ever. Two teams that may see a benefit from the league being halted are Manchester United and Tottenham. Both teams were hit with injuries to key players which caused both Mourinho and Solskjaer to shuffle their pack. Kane, Son, Pogba, and Rashford are just a few names that could be fit enough to take the pitch, and see out the rest of the season.

Pogba, Kane boost?

Out of the four, Tottenham striker Son is the player most likely to return first. He has completed his national service in South Korea, and recovered from a broken arm. Teammate Harry Kane is nearing full fitness after he had surgery on his hamstring. Without the unforeseen break, his injury would have otherwise ended his 2019/20 season. Meanwhile, United’s Pogba last appeared on Boxing day. Notably, his injury issues have limited him to only eight appearances all season for Manchester United. But, he seems to be nearing a return. Likewise, United striker Marcus Rashford has been missing since January, but he should see the pitch after recovering from his back injury. This is all excellent news for United and Spurs, as both teams are aiming to qualify for next seasons Champions League.

New Premier League fixtures can provide a relegation survival boost

Bournemouth are flirting with relegation following a dismal run of seven defeats in their last ten matches. Albeit on goal difference, that run has seen them slip into the bottom three. However, the return of several players from injury will be a welcome boost, and hopefully see them climb up the table.

Other teams struggling at the bottom will have seen the break as a time to reflect and reset. Aston Villa have a slight advantage with a game in hand Vs Sheffield United. Defeat will surely hamper any type of recovery Villa are hoping for, after losing their last four matches before the league was halted. Norwich will be hoping for a resurgence similar to the buzz that surrounded them at the start of the season. Pukki was slamming in goals, and the team was playing nice attacking football, only to see momentum fade quickly. It will be very interesting to see how things shape up during the first couple of weeks at both ends of the table. We have listed the remaining Premier League fixtures below.

FA cup matches

Let’s not forget, not only do we have the remaining Premier League fixtures to play, we also have the FA Cup to look forward to. Norwich City Vs Manchester United will be played on June 27th. Manchester City Vs Newcastle, Sheffield United Vs Arsenal, and Leicester City Vs Chelsea will be played the following day, on June 28th.

The semi-finals will provisionally take place over the weekend of July 18th-19th, with the final scheduled for August 1st.
