Premier League Weekend Predictions week 30+

Premier League Weekend

Premier League Weekend

The Gaffer will give his thoughts on the matches this Premier League weekend for week 30+. So let’s get to it!

Norwich Vs Southampton

Norwich and Southampton kick-off the Premier League weekend. The Canaries will need to start the post COVID season with the same intensity they had displayed at the start of the season. They currently sit at the bottom of the table and have a sizable gap to close. Pukki and Cantwell can cause problems for Southampton, but the Saints will be looking to pick up the three points to help guarantee their own safety. Both teams have tricky home matches in week 31+, and will want to get off the mark quickly. It should be a wide open match as both teams can take some extra time building up their attack. An empty stadium is sad to see, but teams can play without the pressure from fans wanting their teams to constantly push forward.

Prediction: Norwich 0-2 Southampton

Tottenham Vs Manchester United

It’s one of the biggest matches this Premier League weekend. Many players are forecast to return. Pogba, Rashford, Kane, and Son are the big four. Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho also returns to face his old club. This match is going to be interesting since both managers have players available they otherwise wouldn’t have had. With the return of Pogba, is there a spot for him in the starting lineup? Three points will be huge for either side, but Tottenham will feel they need them more, or face falling seven points adrift of their opponents. We don’t see either team holding back, making for a frantic match. Harry Kane will take the opportunity to edge closer to breaking the Premier League goal scoring record. We can see him bagging a couple in this one, and all three points for the home side.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Manchester United

Watford Vs Leicester City

Watford can surprise any side, just ask Liverpool. That being said, Leicester City are having a high flying season and will want to solidify a top three finish. Jamie Vardy currently holds top spot for the Golden Boot with 19 goals. Leicester will be looking for him to get them over the line. Watford have their own concerns as they desperately need the three points. Results and consistency have been hard to come by for Watford. As a consequence, they find themselves in a relegation battle. We see that trend continuing, with Vardy and company taking all three points back to Leicester.

Prediction: Watford 0-3 Leicester City

Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Arsenal

It was the David Luiz show for Arsenal in their defeat to Manchester City on the opening day of the restart. The inconsistent Arsenal man came off the bench, failed to deal with a ball for City’s first goal, and received a red card for giving away a penalty for the second. That sealed Arsenals fate, condemning them to their seventh defeat of the season, leaving them a huge task to qualify for Europe. Mikel Arteta will be looking for more against Brighton, especially from the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette who looked disinterested against City. Brighton could do with getting some wins under their belt. Just like their opponents, draws have prevented them from climbing the table. They will need to find goals quickly. Without the home support, Brighton may find Arsenal a little too much to handle.

Prediction: Brighton 0-2 Arsenal

West Ham United Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Depending on other results, Wolves could find themselves in 5th place, which currently offers Champions League qualification. Wolves have improved every season under Nuno Espirito Santo, and have been an exciting team to watch. Their rise up the table is down to pure hard work and a positive team culture.

Unbeaten in their last five matches, Wolves will relish the chance to play David Moyes’ men. Hoping for a repeat, Santo beat Moyes’ Real Sociedad in La Liga back in 2015 when he was at Valencia. The Hammers have failed to live up to expectations and find themselves fighting for survival, an all too familiar scenario for David Moyes. On paper, have enough talent to beat the drop. But, getting three points won’t happen this weekend.

Prediction: West Ham United 1-2 Wolves

AFC Bournemouth Vs Crystal Palace

Mid-table Palace don’t seem to be in any threat of relegation. However, they do have the potential of European qualification after a good run of three wins in a row. If any team didn’t want this break, it would have been Palace. Bournemouth on the other hand would have welcomed the time to re-group. No wins in their last four have put them in the relegation zone. Eddie Howe’s men will be boosted by the return of a few extra bodies from injury. Although, Ryan Fraser did not sign a contract extension, so he will not feature. As long as Palace don’t fall complacent they could add to Bournemouth’s woes.

Prediction: Bournemouth 0-1 Crystal Palace

Newcastle United Vs Sheffield United

Newcastle look to be safe. A couple of wins should see The Magpies book themselves into next seasons competition. Nonetheless, they have to score goals. Newcastle have not scored two goals at home in their last 14 games. Likewise, a match against one of the best defenses in premier league doesn’t bode well for them to stop that trend. Sheffield United have only scored five more goals than Newcastle this season. They have a great away record, which might just be the difference maker. We don’t see too much goal mouth action in this one with Sheffield United just nicking it.

Prediction Newcastle 0-1 Sheffield United

Aston Villa Vs Chelsea

We hate to say it, because we like Villa as a team, but we can’t see them getting anything from this one. Chelsea are top class, and Lampard’s men will at least be aiming for 3rd place. Frank Lampard has given so many young players opportunities to play, and they have taken them. Chelsea are definitely going to be licking their lips at this fixture, having won the last five meetings at Villa park.

Villa didn’t look too bad against Sheffield United. Albeit, they got lucky with a goal line technology malfunction not awarding a goal for Sheffield United. Grealish and company won’t have enough to beat Chelsea, making it even harder to see how Villa are going to make a great escape.

Prediction Aston Villa 0-3 Chelsea

Everton Vs Liverpool

The Merseyside derby is one of the most anticipated and heated matches on the Premier League calendar. How different will it be? The fans add a great deal of atmosphere to matches like this. Liverpool are only two wins away from claiming the Premier League crown. They can also beat Manchester City’s league winning point record by bagging 19 points out of the remaining 27 available. Everton will be looking to upset their neighbors by delaying the title for another match. Furthermore, they will most certainty not want to lose on their home turf, and having their own European qualification hopes still in sight.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Liverpool
